Transforming the sea into a reflection

Purobeach Mallorca y la estética transparente de Extrual

Purobeach Mallorca and the transparent aesthetics of Extrual

When the Mediterranean light falls on Majorca, everything seems to take on clearer contours: the sea, the terraces, the lengthening shadows. Purobeach Mallorca draws on this state of the light to transform each threshold into a gaze: the paths are designed as streaks of light, the platforms as frames toward the horizon. In this project, Extrual not only provides the constituent elements: it provides silence, reflection and continuity.

A work that looks out to sea

Purobeach is a constructed landscape. Its terraces, walkways and lounges converge in a succession of planes that interact with the coastline. The aim was clear right from the outset: to make things look as visually casual as possible, without sacrificing the constructive reliability required by a coastal environment. The result is there for all to see, immediate and recognisable: pure lines, honest materials and a strong presence of glass as a leading element.

Systems that support aesthetics

To achieve this casualness whilst respecting technical requirements, three Extrual solutions were used: E-36 (fixed) , E-75 and E-50V . Each one contributes a different quality – transparency, mobility, and visual continuity – and, together, they go to make up the project’s complexion.

E-36 — maximum transparency (fixed installation)

At Purobeach, the E-36 series has been deployed in its fixed version, making the most of this condition to maximise transparency and keep the presence of the frame to a minimum. As it is fixed, the E-36 serves as a pure plane of glass that allows for large-pane compositions, enhancing views without the limitations implied by casement solutions. This project exploits this aesthetic advantage (minimal frame, visual continuity) whilst maintaining the system’s inherent durability and marine exposure behaviour.

E-75 — perimeter sliding door for large openings

The main openings to terraces and pools were resolved with the E-75 , a system designed for high-performance sliding doors with optimised assembly. Key data applied in the work:

  • Frames: 79 mm (2-rail configuration) and 127 mm (3-rail configuration).
  • Leaf thickness: 32 mm.
  • Load capacity: up to 160 kg per leaf .
  • Maximum recommended glazing: up to 26 mm .

These features allow for large sliding panes with fluid movement and visual continuity, without sacrificing watertightness or resistance to the harsh coastal environment.

E-50V — glass railing for visual continuity

For the edges, bay windows and walkways, E-50V was installed, designed so that the railing acts as a virtually imperceptible glass plane:

  • Glass thicknesses allowed: 10+10 mm, 8+8 mm or 6+6 mm (laminated safety windows).
  • Resistance and use: valid for use categories of 3 kN/m linear , complying with the maximum requirements of the CTE for public and private use.

The E-50V thus guarantees the necessary regulatory safety in transit and viewing areas, maintaining visual continuity between the platform and the seascape.

Technology and poetry: a possible pairing

What makes Purobeach Mallorca recognisable is not just the combination of glass and profiles, but the way these elements create atmospheres. The E-36, in its fixed state, allows the glass to act as a canvas; the E-75 opens up the space and regulates the interior-exterior relationship; the E-50V dissolves the final threshold between the person and the horizon. Together, they afford both a refined aesthetic and construction guarantees: watertightness, durability against marine corrosion, and regulatory safety.

In conclusion: architecture that invites you to take a look

At Purobeach, architecture doesn’t just contain activities: it amplifies them. The intervention demonstrates that technology – if properly understood and deployed – can become an aesthetic resource: profiles that disappear, glass that reflects, railings that allow the view to pass through. For Extrual, this project reasserts that when design and performance go hand in hand, the result is a recognisable, visually powerful and technically sound work.
